In Memoriam: Delores Ann Richburg Greene, 1935-2022

Delores Greene, a long time educator and dean died on April 11. She was 86 years old.

A native of Petersburg, Virginia, Dr. Greene was the valedictorian of her high school class and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree at Virginia State University, where she majored in vocal music education. She held a master’s degree in elementary education from Virginia State University and an educational doctorate from the University of Virginia.

Dr. Greene taught in the public schools in several Virginia districts. She then was appointed assistant superintendent for elementary education for the publc school system in Richmond. After retiring, she became an adjunct professor of Virginia Union University. She later was appointed dean of interdisciplinary studies in the College of Education at the university.

Dr. Greene completed her career as associate dean and then as dean of professional education at her alma mater Virginia State University. She retired in 2014 at the age of 78.
