Katie Conboy Selected to Be the Next President of St. Mary’s College in Indiana

Katie Conboy has been chosen to serve as the fourteenth president of St. Mary’s College in South Bend, Indiana. She will take office on June 1.

St. Mary’s College, which is adjacent to the campus of the University of Notre Dame, enrolls nearly 1,500 women in undergraduate programs. The college also has more than 100 graduate students.

Dr. Conboy stated that “I am so excited to become part of a college that shares so many of my values and priorities: educating the whole person, promoting an open-hearted and inclusive community and advancing women. I hope we can work up an appetite for change. That we can approach renewing and renovating our Saint Mary’s home with excitement and openness.”

Since 2013, Dr. Conboy has served as provost and senior vice president at what is now Simmons University in Boston. Earlier, she was a professor of English literature and later provost at Stonehill College in North Easton, Massachusetts.

Dr. Conboy is a 1981 graduate of the University of Kansas, where she majored in English. She earned a Ph.D. in English literature from the University of Notre Dame.
