The School of Nursing at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro has named three women scholars to Eloise R. Lewis Excellence Professorships. The awards are made to scholars who make significant contributions to the university in teaching, scholarship, mentorship, and service. The professorships honor Eloise R. Lewis, the founding dean of the School of Nursing at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Heidi Krowchuk has served on the faculty at the university of 29 years. She also serves as associate dean for academic programs. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Michigan. Dr. Krowchuk earned her Ph.D. at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
Susan Letvak joined the faculty as an assistant professor in 2000. She currently serves as the coordinator for the nursing school’s Veterans Access Program. Dr. Letvak earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from Russell Sage College in Troy, New York. She holds a Ph.D. from Adelphi University in Garden City, New York.
Pamela Johnson Rowsey joined the faculty at the university in 2016 as a professor and chair of the adult health nursing department. Dr. Rowsey is a graduate of Mississippi University for Women, where she majored in nursing. She holds a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.
Dr. Scarlatta has led the University of Michigan-Dearbon on an interim basis for the past year. Pending approval from the board of regents, she is slated to become the university's permanent leader on May 22.
Nicole Reaves has been serving as executive vice president and chief programs officer at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
