Mary Lou Lacy, a long-time educator and member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, died on January 17 at the Bethany Health Care Center in Framingham, Massachusetts. She was 89 years old.
A native of Holyoke, Massachusetts, Sister Lacey joined the religious order at the age of 17. She earned a bachelor’s degree at the College of Our Lady of the Elms in Chicopee, Massachusetts. Sister Lacey later earned a master’s degree at Boston College.
Sister Lacey taught in several Catholic schools in Springfield, including 19 years at Cathedral High School. She then joined the staff at the College of Our Lady of the Elms serving as director of public information and director of public relations. She served on the staff of the college for 21 years until her retirement in 2001.
