Three Women Who Have Been Appointed to Dean Positions at Universities

Autumn Tooms Cypres was appointed dean of the School of Education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She was associate dean for research and graduate studies for the School of Education at St. John’s University in Queens, New York.

Dr. Cypres holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and an educational doctorate from Arizona State University. She also earned a master’s degree in education from Northern Arizona University.

Sonya Hardin was named dean of the School of Nursing at the University of Louisville. She has been serving as a professor and associate dean for graduate programs at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. She has been on the faculty there since 2013 and previously taught at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Dr. Hardin holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She earned master’s degrees in business and health administration from Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, North Carolina and a Ph.D. in nursing from the University of Colorado.

Tara Bubble was appointed dean of admission at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York, effective October 15. She has been serving as deputy director of undergraduate admissions at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. Bubble has been an admissions officer at Cornell since 2004.

Bubble holds a bachelor’s degree in agricultural research and managerial economics and a master’s degree in education, learning, teaching, and social policy from Cornell University.
