In Memoriam: Julie Belle White-Newman, 1943-2017

Julie White-NewmanJulie Belle White-Newman, a long-time faculty member at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota, died on December 4 at her home in Naples, Florida. She was 74 years old.

After earning a doctorate at the University of Minnesota, Dr. White-Newman joined the faculty at St. Catherine University in 1975. She served on the faculty for 30 years, retiring from teaching in 2005 as an associate professor of speech communication. During this period, Dr. White-Newman was chair of the speech and theatre department from 1975 to 1981. From 1981 to 1985, she served as director of continuing education programs at the university.

Dr. White-Newman was a co-founder of the master’s degree program in organizational leadership and taught courses in this discipline for 20 years. After retiring from teaching, Dr. White-Newman served as interim dean of arts and sciences and as a special assistant to the president at the university. She retired and moved to Florida in 2008.
