Marilyn Fore was named the next president of Horry Georgetown Technical College in Conway, South Carolina. She will take office on April 1. Dr. Fore has been serving as senior vice president for academic affairs at the college. She has been employed by the college since 1974.
Horry Georgetown Technical College enrolls more than 7,000 students. Women make up 63 percent of the student body.
In announcing the appointment, Tommy Branyon, chair of the Horry Georgetown Technical College Area Commission, stated that “Dr. Fore’s experience in all facts of the college has prepared her well to lead HGTC into the future. She is committed to the mission of preparing students for jobs and has a passion for helping others advance. She is also committed to serving our community.”
Dr. Fore is a graduate of Fairmont State University in West Virginia. She holds two master’s degrees and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the University of South Carolina.
