Ten Women Who Will Be Taking on New Administrative Duties in Higher Education

GeChenGe Chen was appointed director of TRIO programs at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She is the former executive director of TRIO programs at the University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Chen is a graduate of Northeast Normal University in China. She earned a master’s degree and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.

Kishan ZuberKishan Zuber was named vice president for enrollment services at Wells College in Aurora, New York. Since 2012, Zuber has served as assistant dean of the Graduate School at Binghamton University of the State University of New York System.

Zuber holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and a master’s degree in student affairs and diversity from Binghamton University.

MCDNALDLoretta McDonald was appointed director of admissions at Harris-Stowe State University in St. Louis. She was dean of recruitment and admission at Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee.

McDonald is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin, where she majored in public relations. She holds a master’s degree in higher education administration from Vanderbilt University in Nashville.

Karen_SodomaKaren Sodoma was named interim university controller at the University of Rochester in New York. She has been serving as associate controller. She joined the university’s staff in 2005 as an assistant controller.

Sodoma holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA from the University of Rochester.

Brooke Lambert_thumbBrooke Lambert will be the new program coordinator for the LGBTQIA Resource Office at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. For the past four years, she has held a similar position at the Access and Diversity Center of Utah State University.

Lambert holds a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education and a master’s degree in sport and physical education from Utah State University.

genardGiovanna M. Genard is the new assistant vice president for strategic communication and marketing and chief marketing officer at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. She is the first Latina member of the president’s cabinet in university history. She has been serving in the post on an acting basis for the past two years. Earlier, she was a staff member at Pennsylvania State University for 14 years.

Genard is a graduate of Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, where she majored in communication. She holds a master’s degree in higher education administration from Penn State.

debDavisDeborah Davis was appointed vice president for clinical affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University, effective October 1. She will also serve as CEO of Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems Hospitals and Clinics.

Davis holds a bachelor’s degree in business and an MBA from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.

Colorado State UniversityAshley Stokes was named assistant vice president for engagement at Colorado State University. She will also serve as deputy director of CSU Extension. She has been serving as assistant dean for veterinary admissions and student services in the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the university.

Dr. Stokes is a graduate of the University of Alabama. She holds a doctorate in veterinary medicine and a Ph.D. from Louisiana State University.

Geraldine-deBerlyGeraldine de Berly was appointed vice provost for continuing and professional education at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She was the senior associate dean for distance education at Syracuse University in New York.

A native of Cuba, Dr. de Berly is a graduate of Stanford University in California, where she majored in political science. She holds master’s degree in applied linguistics from the University of Essex in England and an educational doctorate from New Mexico State University.

PaigeFrancis2Paige Francis was named associate chief information officer for academic technologies and shared services at the University of Arkansas. She has been serving as chief information officer at Fairfield University in Connecticut.

Francis is a graduate of the University of Arkansas, where she majored in communication. She holds a master’s degree in computer information systems from the University of Phoenix.
