In honor of Women’s History Month, Georgia-Pacific Inc., the maker of Brawny paper towels produced a series of video profiles of four women in traditionally male occupations “who have overcome adversity and are empowering others through their accomplishments.”
The company’s Strength Has No Gender Initiative is profiling women who are strong and resilient, presumably like their paper towels. One of the four women profiled is from the academic world.
Valerie Montgomery Rice is president and dean of the Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta. She is the first woman to lead the medical school. Earlier, Dr. Rice was the founder of the Center for Women’s Health Research at Meharry Medical School in Nashville, Tennessee.
A graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, Dr. Montgomery Rice received her medical training at Harvard Medical School.
