Barbara Regenspan was promoted to full professor of educational studies at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. She is the author of Haunting and the Educational Imagination (Sense Publishers, 2014).
Professor Regenspan holds a master of social work degree from the University of Cincinnati. She holds an educational doctorate from the University of Rochester.
Yi-Ping Hsieh is a new assistant professor in the department of social work at the University of North Dakota. For the past five years she taught medical sociology and social work at two educational institutions in Taiwan.
Dr. Hsieh holds a bachelor’s degree in medical sociology and social work and a master’s degree in language education. She earned a Ph.D. in educational psychology at Indiana University in Bloomington and then conducted postdoctoral research at Florida State University.
Katherine Montwieler, an associate professor and chair of the department of English at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, was named director of the Women’s Studies and Resource Center at the university, effective July 1.
Dr. Montwieler is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin and a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia.
Jana M. Giles, an assistant professor and the holder of the L.M. McKneely Endowed Professorship in English Literature at the University of Louisiana, Monroe, is taking on the new duties as managing editor of the academic journal Conradiana. The journal is dedicated to the scholarly study of the works of Joseph Conrad.
Dr. Giles is a graduate of St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland. She holds a master’s degree from the University of New Mexico and a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge in England.
Lesa Griffiths is the new T.A. Baker Professor in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Delaware. Professor Griffiths has been on the faculty at the university for 29 years.
Dr. Griffiths is a graduate of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, where she majored in animal science. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in animal nutrition from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
Judith Wasserman was appointed director of the School of Design and Community Development at West Virginia University. She was the director of the landscape architecture program in the College of Environment and Design at the University of Georgia.
Wasserman holds a bachelor’s degree in anthropology, a master’s degree in landscape architecture, and a master’s degree in regional planning, all from Cornell University.

Dr. Scarlatta has led the University of Michigan-Dearbon on an interim basis for the past year. Pending approval from the board of regents, she is slated to become the university's permanent leader on May 22.
Nicole Reaves has been serving as executive vice president and chief programs officer at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
