The First Woman President of Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania

richardson_presidentThe board of trustees of Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, has chosen Kathy Brittain Richardson at the college’s next president. When she takes office on July 1, she will become the first woman president in the 164-year history of the college.

Westminster College, in extreme western Pennsylvania, enrolls about 1,300 students. Women make up 58 percent of the undergraduate student body.

Dr. Richardson currently serves as provost and professor of communication at Berry College in Georgia. She is the co-author of the textbooks Media Ethics: Cases and Moral Reasoning, 10th Edition (Routledge, 2016) and Applied Public Relations: Cases in Stakeholder Management, 3rd Edition (Routledge, 2015).

Dr. Richardson is a summa cum laude graduate of Shorter University in Rome, Georgia. She holds a master’s degree in journalism and a Ph.D. in mass communication from the University of Georgia.
