Abigail Van Slyck Appointed Dean of the Faculty at Connecticut College

Abby-Van-SlyckAbigail Van Slyck was appointed dean of the faculty at Connecticut College in New London. She is the Dayton Professor of Art History at the college. Professor Van Slyck joined the faculty at Connecticut College in 1999. Previously, she taught for 10 years at the University of Arizona.

Professor Van Slyck is the author of Free to All: Carnegie Libraries and American Culture (University of Chicago Press, 1995) and A Manufactured Wilderness: Summer Camps and the Shaping of American Youth, 1890-1960 (University of Minnesota Press, 2006).

Dr. Van Slyck is a graduate of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. She earned a Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley.
