The new deans are Erika Smith at Connecticut College, Angela Gilmore at the University of the District of Columbia, Ammina Kothari at Simmons University, Gail Orum-Alexander at Marshall B. Ketchum University, Angela Starkweather at Rutgers University, Theodorea Regina Berry at Montclair State University, Sheila Whitley at North Carolina A&T State University, Donna Stoddard at Babson College, and Jessica Huber at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College.
Dr. Chapdelaine currently serves as president of Hood College in Frederick, Maryland. She has served in that role since 2015 and also is a tenured professor of psychology. She will become president of Connecticut College on July 1.
The three women presidents who are leaving their positions are Laurie Nichols, president of Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota, Katherine Bergeron, president of Connecticut College, and Meghan Hughes, president of the Community College of Rhode Island.
When she takes office on July 1, Dr. Szymanski will be the inaugural provost at the liberal arts college. Since 1998, she has served on the faculty and held numerous administrative positions at St. Catherine Univerity in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Patricia Sankey Imfeld Robinson taught at Bates College in Lewiston, Mine, from 1947 to 1950. She later taught physical education classes at the University of Connecticut for 22 years.
Dr. Travers joined the Swarthmore College faculty in 1975 as a supervisor for secondary school practice teachers. She was the first tenure-track faculty appointment in what is now the department of educational studies. Dr. Travers retired in 2005.
Professor DiMaggio joined the faculty at the University of Massachusetts as a nursing instructor in 1954. An expert in maternal-child nursing, she and three other women were the first faculty members in what later became the College of Nursing.

At highly rated Connecticut College in New London, Waed Athamneh was appointed associate professor of Arabic studies, Priya Kohli was promoted to associate professor of statistics, and MoÌnika LoÌpez-Anuarbe was named an associate professor of economics.
