A Pair of New Distinguished Professors at the City University of New York

CUNY_logoThe board of trustees of the City University of New York, recently approved the appointment of five faculty members to the rank of Distinguished Professor, the highest faculty designation at the university. Two of the five appointments went to women.

CDavidsonCathy N. Davidson is a professor of English at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. Until earlier this year, Professor Davidson has been serving as the John Hope Franklin Humanities Institute Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies and the Ruth F. DeVarney Professor of English at Duke University. Professor Davidson is the author or editor of more than 20 books including Revolution and the Word: The Rise of the Novel in America (Oxford University Press, 1987) and Now You See It: How Technology and Brain Science Will Transform Schools and Business for the 21st Century (Viking, 2011). Dr. Davidson is a graduate of Elmhurst College in Illinois. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Binghamton University.

JTheoharisJeanne Theoharris is a professor of political science at Brooklyn College whose research focuses on American race relations. She is the author of The Rebellious Life of Mrs. Rosa Parks (Beacon Press, 2013). Professor Theoharris is a graduate of Harvard University, where she majored in Afro-American studies. She holds a Ph.D. in American studies from the University of Michigan.
