Pamela Sutton-Wallace was named chief executive officer of the University of Virginia Medical Center. She has been serving as senior vice president for hospital operations at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. Sutton-Wallace has been on the staff of the Duke University Health System for 17 years. She will begin her new job in July.

Sullivan, president of the University of Virginia, stated, “Effectively managing a comprehensive health care enterprise in today’s environment has to be among the most difficult of assignments. The University of Virginia is fortunate to have someone of Pamela Sutton-Wallace’s caliber join us.”
Sutton-Wallace is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis. She holds a master of public health degree from Yale University.
