Rice University Scholar Named Co-Editor of Cultural Anthropology

howeCymene Howe, an assistant professor of anthropology at Rice University in Houston, Texas, has been selected as co-editor of the journal Cultural Anthropology, an open-access publication of the American Anthropological Association.

The journal was founded at Rice University in 1986 but now is housed at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. The journal will return to Rice University in February 2015. Dr. Howe will share editing duties with Rice anthropologists Dominic Boyer and Jim Faubion.

Dr. Howe has served on the Rice University faculty since 2009. She is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, where she majored in women’s studies. Dr. Howe holds a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology from the University of New Mexico. She is the author of Intimate Activism: The Struggle for Sexual Rights in Postrevolutionary Nicaragua (Duke University Press, 2013).
