
Dr. Harrison is a sociocultural anthropologist who specializes in the study of racial, gender, and class inequalities and the politics that emerge in response to them. She is a past president of the Association of Black Anthropologists. Professor Harrison is the author of Outsider Within: Reworking Anthropology in the Global Age (University of Illinois Press, 2008).
Dr. Harrison is a graduate of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in anthropology from Stanford University in California.
