Eleven Women in New Administrative Roles at Colleges and Universities

YvonneBerryYvonne Berry was appointed vice president and chief financial officers at Saint Joseph’s College in Standish, Maine. She was vice president and chief financial officer for the University of New Hampshire School of Law. Previously, she was director of advancement services at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida.

Berry is a graduate of the University of South Florida in Tampa. She earned an MBA at Rollins College and is a certified public accountant.

SowellStacy D. Sowell was promoted to associate dean of students at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina. For the past four years, she has served as an admissions counselor at the university. She is the former director of student activities at St. Augustine’s University.

Sowell is a graduate of Shaw University and holds a master’s degree in English and African American literature from North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro.

MonicaBoydMonica Boyd was appointed director of student professional development at Salem College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She brings over eleven years of prior experience as a member of Career Development Services at Winston-Salem State University.

Boyd is a graduate of Salem College, where she majored in communication. She holds a master’s degree in adult education and training from the University of Phoenix.

Sherwin.tAngela Sherwin is the new director of the Executive Master of Healthcare Leadership program at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. She is the former assistant director of HealthSource Rhode Island.

Sherwin holds a bachelor’s degree in biomedical ethics and a master of public health degree from Brown University.

P60Nancy S. Goroff was appointed associate provost for the integration of research, education, and professional development and associate dean of the Graduate School at Stony Brook University in New York. She has been serving as an associate professor of chemistry at the university.

Dr. Goroff is a graduate of Harvard University. She holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California at Los Angeles.

Tanya FreemanTanya Freeman is the new director of development at the Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge. She was manager of business development for the University of Phoenix.

Freeman is a graduate of Southern University and earned an MBA at the University of Phoenix.

Knight, StephanieStephanie Knight was appointed associate dean for undergraduate education and graduate studies at the College of Education of Pennsylvania State University. She has been serving as a professor of educational psychology at the university.

Dr. Knight holds a master’s degree from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and a doctorate from the University of Houston. She is the lead editor of the Journal of Teacher Education.

LeaJacobsLea Jacobs is the new associate dean for the arts and humanities at the Graduate School of the University of Wisconsin at Madison. She is a professor of communication arts at the university.

Dr. Jacobs holds a Ph.D. in film studies from the University of California at Los Angeles.

Jenkins-Sarah-255pxSarah Tucker Jenkins was named program coordinator of the LGBT Center and the Women’s Center at Ohio University in Athens. She will spend about three-quarters of her time at the Women’s Center.

Earlier this year, Jenkins completed her master’s degree in women, gender, and sexuality studies at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton.

Brooks-TaraTara A. Brooks is the new assistant dean of University College at West Virginia University. She was director of multicultural affairs and an assistant professor of education at Fairmont State University.

Dr. Brooks holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, all from West Virginia University.

cbrightCaroline Bright was appointed director of financial aid at McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland. She was director of financial aid at St. Mary’s College of Maryland.

Bright is a graduate of Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. She earned a master’s degree from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts.
