Ten Women Faculty Awarded Tenure at North Dakota State University

North Dakota State University has announced promotions and/or the awarding of tenure to 10 women faculty members.

Tracy C. Barrett was awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor of history. She is a graduate of the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Dr. Barrett earned two master’s degrees at Ohio State University and a Ph.D. from Cornell University.

Hyunsook Do was awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor of computer science. Her research focuses on software engineering.

Xinhua Jia was awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor in the College of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Natural Resources. She is a graduate of Xinjiang Agricultural University and hold a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in agricultural engineering from the University of Arizona.

Cynthia A. Naughton, an associate professor of pharmacy, was awarded tenure. She holds a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree and a doctor of pharmacy degree, all from North Dakota State University.

Senay Simsek was awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor in the College of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Natural Resources. She holds a master’s degree from the Gebze Institute of Technology in Turkey and a Ph.D. in food science from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Sherri N. Stastny was awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor of health, nutrition, and exercise science. She holds a Ph.D. in gerontology from the University of North Dakota.

Xiangqing Tangpong was promoted to associate professor of mechanical engineering and awarded tenure. She earned a Ph.D. at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Her research focuses on vibration, dymamics, and friction.

Wendy Troop-Gordon was awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor of psychology. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan and holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in educational psychology from the University of Illinois.

Rachalle E. Vettern was promoted to associate professor in the North Dakota State University Extension service. She was also granted tenure. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees at South Dakota State University and a Ph.D. at North Dakota State University.

Limin Zhang was awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor of management information systems. She is a graduate of Tongi University in Shanghai. Dr. Zhang holds a master’s degree from the University of Illinois and a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona.
