Belle Wei was appointed provost and vice president for academic affairs at California State University at Chico. She will begin her new job on August 1. Since 2003, she has served as dean of the College of Engineering at San Jose State University. She has been a member of the faculty at San Jose State since 1987 and served as chair of the department of electrical engineering from 1998 to 2002.
Dr. Wei was born in Taiwan and came to the United States as a teenager. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biophysics and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California at Berkeley. She also holds a master’s degree in engineering from Harvard University.
