Nancy J. Cable has announced her intention to step down from her role as chancellor of the University of North Carolina at Asheville at the end of the calendar year and Gayle E. Hutchinson, president of California State University, Chico announced that she will retire at the end of the 2022-23 academic year.
r. Stringham, a professor at the University of Nevada Reno, is the first woman to win the Sustained Lifetime Achievement Award in the 75-year history of the International Society for Range Management.
Currently, Dr. Elrod serves as the provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She is the former dean of science and mathematics at Fresno State University and director of the Center for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Education at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
Debra Larson was named provost and vice president for academic affairs at California State University, Chico, and Donde Plowman was named executive vice chancellor and chief academic officer at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
The honorees are Lyra Monteiro of Rutgers University-Newark, Terri J. Vrtiska of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, Lori Jakiela of the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg, Maria F. Paredes Fernandez of the University of Pennsylvania, Kathryn Jablokow of Pennsylvania State University- Great Valley, and the late Katie Whitlock of California State University, Chico.
According to a new study led by a demographer at the University of Maryland, of the 31 countries reporting data on maternal mortality to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the United States ranked 30th. Only Mexico had a higher rate of maternal mortality.
Gayle E. Hutchinson currently serves as provost and vice president for academic affairs at California State University, Channel Islands. She has held that post since 2013. Earlier in her career, Dr. Hutchinson served on the faculty at the Chico campus for 17 years.
Professor Hardwick joined the faculty of the geography department at the University of Oregon in 2000 and retired from the full-time faculty in 2010. Earlier in her career, she taught at Texas State University in San Marcos, California State University, Chico and Cosumnes River College in Sacramento, California.
The women who have or will retire are Belle Wei at California State University, Chico, Hudlin Wagner at Carleton College, Nancy Dunlap at the University of Virginia, Jennie Taylor at Emory University, and Sharon Stahl at Washington University in St. Louis.
