The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth has announced six finalists for chancellor of the university. Two of the six finalists are women.
Mary K. Grant is the president of Massachusetts College of the Liberal Arts in North Adams. She is a graduate of the college she now leads. Dr. Grant holds a master’s degree in public affairs at the University of Massachusetts Boston and a Ph.D. in social policy from the Heller School at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts.
Divina Grossman is the founding vice president of engagement at Florida International University in Miami. She is the former dean of the College of Nursing and Health Science at FIU. Dr. Grossman is a graduate of the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Miami and a doctorate in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania.
Update: Dr. Grossman was chosen as president on April 19.
Dr. Scarlatta has led the University of Michigan-Dearbon on an interim basis for the past year. Pending approval from the board of regents, she is slated to become the university's permanent leader on May 22.
Nicole Reaves has been serving as executive vice president and chief programs officer at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
Dr. Bear, a longtime leader and advocate for international public health, is the new leader of Jhpiego, a Johns Hopkins University-affiliated global health organization dedicated to improving the health and lives of women and families around the world.
Dr. Fleuriet comes to her new role from the University of Texas at San Antonio, where she has been serving as vice provost for honors education and a professor of anthropology.
Dr. Burris has served as provost of Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina for the past four years. She is slated to become the next president of SUNY's Buffalo State University on July 1.
