Dr. Koster currently serves as chair of the department of respiratory care at Boise State University in Idaho. Her research focuses on the tangible benefits of earning a graduate-level degree in respiratory care.
The four women appointed to endowed posts are Nicole R. Fleetwood at new York University, Jennifer S. Tuttle at the Univesity of New England in Biddeford, Maine, Abigail Hornstein at Wesleyan University in Middletown Connecticut, and Leela Gandhi at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.
The honor is awarded to young scholars in biomedical science "who have shown great promise in revealing new pathways to advance human health." Five of the seven 2016 Rita Allen Foundation Scholars are women.
The women who have been appointed to dean posts are Jane E. Carreiro, Sara Rosen, Laura Bertonazzi, Patricia A. Okker, Sharon Walker, Paula O'Loughlin, Gloria Jones-Johnson, and Ingrid C. Burke.
