Chamberlain spent nearly four decades as a faculty member and athletic coach at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. She taught courses in the departments of physical education and physical therapy, and co-founded five women's athletics teams over the course of her tenure.
The new deans are Wiebke Strehl at Newberry College, Sonja Harris-Haywood at Meharry Medical College, Sarah Banet-Weiser at the University of Pennsylvania, Laurie Garrett-Cobbina at the University of Redlands, Mollye Demosthenidy at Newcomb-Tulane College, Jenna Hyatt at Washington State University, Deleise Wilson at Polk State College, and Mary Gallant at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
Since 2016, Dr. Richtermeyer has served as the dean of the Manning School of Business at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Earlier, she was a professor of accountancy and business law and associate dean of the College of Business at Xavier University in Cincinnati.
Dr. Chen has been serving as vice chancellor for research and innovation and has been a member of the faculty since 1997, after spending six years as an assistant professor at Boston University. She was appointed vice provost for research in 2009 and was promoted to vice chancellor in 2016.
The women being honored are Paula A. Johnson, president of Wellesley College in Massachusetts, Phoebe A. Haddon, chancellor of Rutgers University-Camden, and Jill Portnoy, an assistant professor in the School of Criminology and Justice Studies at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell.
The honorees are Jean Folkerts, a dean emerita at the University of North Carolina, Joanne Yestramski of the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, Rashida Khakoo of West Virginia University, Roshni Kulkarni of Michigan State University, and novelist Angela Flournoy, who has taught at several universities.
From 1999 to 2011, Jane Farver was the director of the List Visual Arts Center at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Since 2013, she had been teaching at Cornell University's College of Architecture, Art, and Planning.
Sandra Lim, an assistant professor of English at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, has been selected as the winner of the 2013 Barnard Women Poets Prize.
