Since 2008, Dr. Bannan has been serving as provost for Baker College and will continue to serve in that role. Dr. Bannan previously served as president of the Owosso campus from 1995 to 2008.

Dr. Bruney-Koch has led the college at the north end of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula since 2001. Previously, she was dean of student services at the college. Earlier, she was dean of student personnel services at West Shore Community College in Scottville, Michigan.

Mona Hanna-Attisha, an associate professor at Michigan State University, will receive the Heinz Award in the Public Policy category and Natasha Trethewey, the Board of Trustees Professor of English at Northwestern University will receive the Heinz Award in the Arts and Humanties.
Darlene Clark Hine Receives Lifetime Achievement Award From the Southern Historical Association
The John Hope Franklin Lifetime Achievement Award is given out every five years. The award committee stated that “we cannot conceive of a more deserving candidate. Hine’s career has been deeply active, productive, and consequential.”
Notre Dame’s Jennifer Tank to Lead the Society for Freshwater Science
Jennifer Tank is the Galla Professor of Biological Sciences and director of the Environmental Change Initiative at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. She will serve as president-elect of the Society for Freshwater Science until May 2018, when she will become president.

A tudy by researchers at Michigan State University finds that college women with disabilities, including those with physical, mental, or emotional conditions, are at particularly high risk of becoming victims of sexual violence or abuse. College women with a disability were also more likely to be victims of intimate partner violence.
