Linda Haddad was named dean of the Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State University, Jennifer Gwilym was named interim senior dean of the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine at Ohio University, and Linda Weglicki was appointed interim dean of the College of Nursing at Michigan State University.
Throughout her career, Dr. Selman has conducted extensive research on the privatization of prisons, punitive social control, moral panics, and law-enforcement technology. She currently serves as chair of the department of critical justice studies at Illinois State University.
Pia Gupta, Wanda Blanchett, Christine Kelleher Palus, Allison Rank, Amelia Kraehe, Emily Jones, Kelly Jordan-Sciutto, Pernilla Wittung-Stafshede, Renee Boyer, and Sally Davis are taking on new academic roles at educational institutions across the country.
The women who have been promoted to new faculty ranks are Lydia Kavraki at Rice University, Laura Vogel at Illinois State University, Daphne Greeberg at Georgia State University, Qing-Xiang Sang at Florida State University, and Julie Collins-Dogrul at Whittier College in California.
The appointments are Jill Drouillard at Mississippi University for Women, Carrie Geiger at the University of Florida, Renata Engel at Pennsylvania State University, Cicilia Yudha at the University of Nevada-Reno, Jami Fukui at the University of Hawaiʻi Cancer Center, and Allison Harris at Illinois State University.
“I am eager to engage with the community to share my vision and work together to realize our collective potential for Southeastern Illinois College,” said Dr. Weiss.
Dr. Harris has served as a professor of poetry and poetics at Illinois State University for the past 15 years. Her teaching and academic interests include poetry writing, poetics, and African American literature.
Dr. Smith currently serves as an associate professor of teaching and learning and director of the Education Now Lab at Illinois State University. She was honored for her innovative research into literacy in digital spaces.
At the University of Arkansas, Dr. Bridges is the director of clinical training for the doctoral program in clinical psychology, and director of the Diversity Research and Enhanced Access for Minorities (DREAM) lab. Her research focuses on understanding and reducing mental health disparities in vulnerable, underserved populations.
Dale-Elizabeth Pehrsson, founding president of Pennsylvania Western University, announced today that she is transitioning to a new role with the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. Terri Goss Kinzy, president of Illinois State University, has resigned from her post after less than two years on the job. No explanation was given for the resignation.
The five women in new positions are Chandra L. Ford at Emory University in Atlanta, Biwei Huang in the Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute at the University of California, San Diego, Alison Bailey at Illinois State University, Breezy Taggart in the Honors College at the University of Wyoming, and Brett Abarbanel at the International Gaming Institute at the University of Nevada Las Vegas.
The women appointed deans are Sarah Cook at Georgia State University, Heather Dillaway at Illinois State University, Denise Gormley at the University of Cincinnati, Marla Harris at Mitchell Community College in Statesville, North Carolina, and Leslie Durham at Boise State University in Idaho.
