Dr. Drake's latest appointment follows a stint as provost of Georgia Southwestern State University. An expert on mathematics education, she previously taught at the University of West Georgia for more than 20 years.
Dr. Johnston was president of the College of Coastal Georgia. Previously, she served as president of the University of Rio Grande in Ohio and held administrative and faculty positions with the University of Montevallo in Alabama, the University of Louisiana Monroe, and Mississippi State University.
MacCartney currently serves as chief operating officer for the University System of Georgia. She previously served as chief financial officer for the State of Georgia.
The women who were named to provost positions are Anita Fitzgerald Henck at Azusa Pacific University in California, Diane Prusank at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, Jill Drake at Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, and Elizabeth Johnson for the American Public University System in Charlestown, West Virginia.
Dr. Smith has served as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Georgia Southwestern State University since July 1, 2018. She is also a tenured professor in the department of psychology and sociology. Earlier, Dr. Smith was an administrator at Washington State University Vancouver from 1997-2018.
