The American Chemical Society has announced a new cohort of 65 ACS Fellows. Of this group, 11 are women with current affiliations to higher educational institutions in the United States.
Donna Nelson is a professor of organic chemistry at the University of Oklahoma. In addition to teaching, Dr. Nelson was science adviser for the television series Breaking Bad. She has also done extensive research on faculty diversity in STEM fields.
Mark Griep, an associate professor of chemistry at the University of Nebraska has spent the past 17 years trying to find out more information about Rachel Lloyd, who taught at the university for seven years from 1887 to 1894. He found what he was looking for in a time capsule in the cornerstone of a university building.
Dr. Brennecke, the Keating-Crawford Professor of Chemical and Molecular Engineering at the University of Notre Dame, was honored for her outstanding research in the development of solvents including supercritical fluids and iconic liquids.
