Dr. Schwinn has served as associate vice president for medical affairs, dean of the Carver College of Medicine, and professor of anesthesiology, pharmacology, and biochemistry at the University of Iowa. She earned a medical degree at the Stanford University School of Medicine.

Elizabeth Spiller to Be the Next Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer at the University of Nebraska
Since 2017, Dr. Spiller has served as dean of the College of Letters and Science at the University of California, Davis. Earlier, Professor Spiller served as dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Tech. She will begin her new job at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in March.

Dr. Dorrance has been a faculty member in the department of plant pathology in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences and based in Wooster since fall 1997. She currently serves as a professor in the department and was the director of the college’s Center for Soybean Research.

Since 2009, Dr. Blattner has served as president of Caldwell University in New Jersey. Prior to that role, she was vice president and dean for academic affairs at Fontbonne University. Dr. Blattner will become president of Fontbonne University in July.
Nicole Stanton Will Be the Next Provost at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut
Stanton joined Wesleyan in 2007 as an associate professor of dance. She served as chair of the department for two three-year terms and is currently serving as dean of the Arts and Humanities. Earlier in her career, she taught at Ohio State University.

Leslie Ward has been serving as interim president of the college since July of this year. She will officially assume the duties of president on July 1, 2020. She holds a master of fine arts degree in writing from the Vermont College of Fine Arts and an MBA from Harvard University.

Lourdes María Alvarez is the new provost and vice president for academic affairs at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. Mary L. Coffey was named provost and dean of faculty at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York, and Margaret Fitzgerald was named interim provost at North Dakota State University.

A first-generation immigrant from the Philippines, Dr. Tomaneng has been an educator in the California Community College system for nearly 25 years, serving most recently as president of Berkeley City College. Dr. Tomaneng will begin her presidency of San José City College on January 6.

Earlier in her career, she served as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Elon University in North Carolina, vice provost and dean of undergraduate studies at the University of Central Florida, and director of faculty development at Georgia Southern University.

Dr. Stacy Young currently serves as dean of the School of Business and School of Advanced Technology at Southwestern Michigan College in Dowagiac. She joined the staff at the college in 2005 and was named dean in 2013.

Suzanne Blum Malley Will Be the Next Provost at Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina
Dr. Blum Malley currently serves as senior associate provost and a member of the English department faculty at Columbia College in Chicago. She joined the faculty at the college in 1995 as an assistant professor of English. Dr. Blum Malley will begin her new duties in January.
Addressing the Lack of Women in Leadership Positions in Academic Pediatrics
in 2017, women were 35 percent of all physicians in the United States but 63 percent of all pediatricians. Women made up 57 percent of all medical school faculty in pediatrics but were just 35 percent of all full professors in pediatrics and 26 percent of pediatric department chairs.
Boise State University Scholar Named President-Elect of Respiratory Care Society
Samantha Davis, clinical assistant professor in the department of respiratory care at Boise State University in Idaho, has been elected president-elect of the Idaho Society for Respiratory Care for the year 2020. Davis will serve one year as president-elect and then will serve the Idaho Society for Respiratory Care as president for the year 2021.

A native of Australia, Susan Edwards has served as provost at Wright State University since 2018. Prior to coming to Wright State, Dr. Edwards served as vice provost for faculty affairs and professor of biology at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina.

Cheryl Evans Jones Named the 17th President of Paine College in Augusta, Georgia
Dr. Jones first joined the Paine College faculty in 1993 as an assistant professor of psychology. In 2014, she served as Paine’s acting provost and vice president for academic affairs. Dr. Jones has been serving as acting president of Paine College since July.

Jill A. Murray has been serving as the college’s executive vice president and chief innovation officer. From 2008-2012, she operated as the college’s vice president of academic affairs. She will become the college ninth – and first woman – president on July 1, 2020.

Jean M. Miller, dean of the Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts at Illinois State University since 2015, will serve as president of the organization for three years. Dean Miller has been an active member of the International Council of Fine Arts Deans for 11 years.
