Professor Lori Holt to Receive the Troland Research Award From the National Academy of Sciences

Holt, a professor of psychology at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, has been selected to receive the Troland Research Award from the National Academy of Sciences. She is being honored for “studies advancing our understanding of the sensory and cognitive processes that are fundamental to the perception of speech.” Dr. Holt is a specialist in auditory cognitive neuroscience and is director of Carnegie Mellon’s Speech Perception and Learning Laboratory.

Dr. Holt will receive the award at the National Academy of Sciences annual meeting in Washington, D.C., in April. The award comes with a $50,000 prize.

Professor Holt has been on the Carnegie Mellon faculty since 1999 and was promoted to full professor in 2010. She holds a bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
