Nine Women Named to Administrative Positions in Higher Education

Kathey Porter was appointed assistant director of purchasing for supplier diversity at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She was the coordinator of minority/women-owned business enterprises for the city of Savannah, Georgia.

Porter is a graduate of Savannah State University. She earned an MBA from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro.

Jaclynn Davis-Wallatte, assistant vice president for equity, diversity, and global outreach at North Dakota State University, was named president of the Higher Education Resource Organization for Students (HEROS).

HEROS is a collaborative effort by the North Dakota University System and tribal colleges to increase the number of American Indian students who earn college degrees.

Tammy S. Spradlin was named assistant director of internal audit at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Previously, she was an internal auditor for Lowe’s Inc.

A graduate of Virginia Tech, she is completing a degree in accounting from Liberty University.

Danielle Goodroe was appointed assistant director of graduate recruitment in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University. She has served as assistant director of admissions and a development officer at Utica College.

A native of Rome, New York, Goodroe is a graduate of the State University of New York at Oswego.

Janet Pelt Wisdom is the new associate vice president for research at George Washington University in the nation’s capital. She was assistant dean for research resources at the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University in New York City.

Dr. Wisdom earned a Ph.D. in clinical psychology at George Washington University.

Karen Weddle-West was given the additional responsibility of new director of diversity initiatives at the University Memphis. She will continue in her role as vice provost for graduate programs.

Dr. Weddle-West holds master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

Cynthia Sagers was appointed interim vice provost for research and economic development at the University of Arkansas. She will continue to serve as a professor of biological sciences. Dr. Sagers joined the faculty at the university in 1993.

A graduate of the University of Iowa, Professor Sagers earned a Ph.D. at the University of Utah.

Kimberly Page was named director of the Office of Student Records at the University of Maine. She was the associate registrar for systems and degree audits at the University of Connecticut.

Page holds a bachelor’s degree in human development and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Connecticut.

Halima N. Leak was named the inaugural executive director of the Center for Fundraising and Philanthropy at Paul Quinn College in Dallas, Texas. She has been serving as director of alumni relations and development for the School of Professional Studies at the City University of New York.

Leak is a graduate of Hampton University. She holds a master’s degree in educational sociology from New York University and is a doctoral candidate there.
