Four Women Faculty Members Taking on New Roles

Winnie Dunn, a professor of occupational therapy at the University of Kansas, was named a Chancellors Club Teaching Professor at the university. There are now 14 Chancellors Club Professors at the university.

Professor Dunn joined the faculty at the University of Kansas in 1986 and now serves as chair of the department of occupational therapy education. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Missouri and a Ph.D. in applied neuroscience from the University of Kansas.

Jane Eaglen, an internationally known opera soprano, was appointed to the full-time faculty at the New England Conservatory in Boston. She is currently a professor of voice in the Conservatory of Music at Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio. Previously, she was senior-artist-in residence at the University of Washington. She will begin to teach at the New England Conservatory in the fall of 2013.

A native of Britain, she is a graduate of Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England. She became a U.S. citizen in 2007.

Laquita Blockson is a new associate professor of management at the North Charleston, South Carolina, campus of Saint Leo University. She was an assistant professor of management at the College of Charleston.

Dr. Blockson holds a bachelor’s degree and an MBA from Florida A&M University. She earned a Ph.D. at the University of Pittsburgh.

Patricia B. Howard professor of nursing at the University of Kentucky, was named interim dean of the university’s College of Nursing.

Dr. Howard received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Louisville. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in nursing from the University of Kentucky.
