
The award given each year for “a book that makes an outstanding contribution to American music studies,” honors Irving Lowens who served as president of the society from 1974 to 1981.
Dr. Feisst holds a master’s degree in French literature from the Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany, and a second master’s degree in music education from the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt. She earned a Ph.D. in musicology from the Free University of Berlin.
