New Administrative Appointments for Eight Women in Higher Education

Alejandra Castillo has been appointed senior fellow for economic development at Purdue University Northwest in Hammond, Indiana. She most recently served as the U.S. assistant secretary of commerce for economic development at the Economic Development Administration. During the past semester, she was an Institute of Politics Fellow at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

Castillo holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from Stony Brook University, a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Texas at Austin, and a juris doctorate from American University in Washington, D.C.

Julie Hartley-Moore has been appointed senior vice chancellor for academic affairs for the State University of New York System. She currently serves as associate commissioner and chief academic officer for the Utah System of Higher Education. Earlier in her career, she served as the director of the Tooele Regional Campus of Utah State University.

Dr. Hartley-Moore is a graduate of Brigham Young University in Utah, where she double-majored in anthropology and French. She holds a master’s degree in American studies from Utah State University and a Ph.D. in applied anthropology and education from Columbia University.

Rosslyn Knight has been promoted to vice president of strategy and chief of staff at Guttman Community College in New York City. For the past two years, she has served as the community college’s executive chief of staff. She has over three decades of experience in education, including leadership roles with Maricopa Community College and Rio Salado College in Arizona.

Dr. Knight holds a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, a master’s degree in language and literacy from Harvard University, and a doctorate in community college leadership from San Diego State University.

Brittany Longsdorf has been appointed associate dean of religious life and the chapel at Princeton University. With over a decade of experience in higher education, she most recently served as the multi-faith chaplain director of religious and spiritual life at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. Previously, she was the university chaplain for international and interfaith students at Boston University.

Dr. Longsdorf holds a bachelor’s degree from Graceland University in Iowa, a master of divinity degree from Princeton University, and a doctor of ministry degree from Boston University.

Monique Michelle Dozier has been named vice chancellor for university advancement at North Carolina A&T State University. She comes to her new role from the University of California, Riverside, where she has served as vice chancellor for advancement and president of the UCR Foundation. Earlier, she was vice president and chief advancement officer at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dozier holds a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems management from Bethel College in Indiana.

Melissa Clodfelter has been appointed associate vice president and chief human resources officer at Elon University in North Carolina. She comes to her new role after more than two decades at Wake Forest University, most recently serving as assistant vice president of faculty and staff experience. Prior to her career in higher education, she was a hospice chaplain, bereavement counselor, and volunteer coordinator for StaffBuilders Home Health and Hospice in Louisburg, North Carolina.

Dr. Coldfelter holds a bachelor’s degree from Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, North Carolina, and a master’s degree from Southeastern Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. She earned her Ph.D in educational leadership and cultural foundations from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Hanna Schmillen has been promoted to associate dean for research and education services at Ohio University Libraries. She had been serving as the health sciences librarian and head of the libraries’ research services department. Earlier in her tenure, she was head of subject liaison services.

Schmillen received her bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from Illinois State University and her master of library and information science degree from the University of Denver.

Elizabeth Ann Webb has been appointed communications coordinator for the College of Education at Troy University in Alabama. She previously served the university as a social media intern and project manager. Her new role will focus on enhancing the College of Education’s visibility and community relationships.

A December 2024 graduate of Troy University, Webb holds a bachelor’s degree in communications.
