Three Women Scholars Join the Psychology Faculty at the University of Notre Dame

Haya Fatimah has joined the University of Notre Dame faculty as an assistant professor of psychology. She recently served as postdoctoral clinic intern with the McLean Hospital and Harvard Medical School. She studies the complex dynamics in psychopathology, especially borderline personality and comorbid disorders.

Dr. Fatimah is a graduate of Forman Christian College in Pakistan. She earned a master’s degree in psychology at New York University and a a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of South Florida.

Kaylin Hill has joined the faculty as an assistant professor of psychology. She comes to her new role from Vanderbilt University, where she was a postdoctoral researcher in developmental psychopathology. In her research, she examines the interplay of person-level vulnerabilities and context-level risk factors, and how this interplay contributes to the development of psychopathology over time.

Dr. Hill is a graduate of Butler University in Indianapolis and holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Elizabeth Shewark has joined the faculty as an assistant professor of psychology. She was also named the William J. Shaw Center for Children and Families Collegiate Chair. Her research focuses on how contextual influences and individual genetic influences jointly impact the development of youths’ competence over time.

Dr. Shewark received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She holds a master’s degree in applied developmental psychology from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, and a Ph.D. in developmental psychology from Pennsylvania State University.
