Two Women Join the Soil Science Faculty at North Dakota State University

Two women have joined the faculty of the department of soil sciences in the School of Natural Resource Sciences at North Dakota State University. The two faculty positions were created by the state legislature to address issues of soil health and land management in North Dakota.

Ann-Marie Fortuna was named a research assistant professor and will study soil salinity, subsurface tile drainage, drought, and range lands. She was an assistant professor at Washington State University. Dr. Fortuna holds a Ph.D. in soil science from Michigan State University.

Abbey Wick was appointed extension assistant professor. She will conduct applied research on soil health issues. She was conducting postdoctoral research in the Marginal Soils Research Group at Virginia Tech. Dr. Wick holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wyoming.
