Anna Harris has been appointed interim chair for the department of mathematics and computer science in the School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff. Dr. Harris is an associate professor of mathematics and computer science who has been with the university since 2009.
Dr. Harris holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. She earned her master’s degree in applied mathematics and her Ph.D. in computational science from the University of Arkansas Little Rock.
Natalie Manginsay has been named director of the Poultry Research and Diagnostic Laboratory at the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she has served as an associate clinical professor of avian medicine for the past nine years.
Dr. Manginsay earned her bachelor of veterinary science degree from the University of Pretoria in South Africa. She received a master’s degree in avian medicine and a Ph.D. in veterinary and biomedical sciences from the University of Georgia.
Carly Camplain has joined the faculty at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, as an assistant professor of Indigenous health law and policy in the College of Health. She comes to Lehigh University from the Center for Health Equity Research at Northern Arizona University where she conducted research on the impact of law and policy on Indigenous peoples’ healthcare.
Dr. Camplain is a graduate of the University of New Mexico where she double majored in sociology and psychology with a minor in statistics. She holds a juris doctorate from Arizona State University and a Ph.D. in interdisciplinary health and health equity from Northern Arizona University.
Clemson University in South Carolina has appointed Deanna Sellnow chair of the department of communication in the College of Behavioral, Social, and Health Sciences. She comes to Clemson University from the University of Central Florida where she served as a professor of strategic communication, program coordinator for graduate programs in communication, and associate director of the Nicholson School of Communication.
Dr. Sellnow earned a bachelor’s degree in music education and speech communication from North Dakota State University, a master’s degree in communication from Wayne State University in Michigan, and a Ph.D. in strategic communication from the University of North Dakota.
Laura Smithers has joined the University of Nevada Reno faculty as an assistant professor of higher education leadership. Her research explores the possible futures created and foreclosed by assessment regimes in undergraduate education.
Dr. Smithers holds two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Maryland; one in economics, the other in government and politics. She earned her master’s degree in educational psychology from the University of Florida and a Ph.D. in critical and sociocultural studies in education from the University of Oregon.
Jennifer Newsome Martin has been named director of the de Nicola Center for Ethics and Culture at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. Dr. Martin is an associate professor in both the program of liberal studies and the department of theology at the University of Norte Dame. She is the author of Hans Urs von Balthasar and the Critical Appropriation of Russian Religious Thought (University of Notre Dame Press, 2015).
Dr. Martin received her bachelor’s degree in biblical studies and humanities from Point University in West Point, Georgia. She holds a master’s degree in the history of Christianity and a Ph.D. in systematic theology from the University of Notre Dame.
Texas A&M University has awarded Frances Liger the title of University Distinguished Professor, the highest faculty designation at the university. Dr. Liger is a professor of biomedical engineering and the Eppright Chair in Biomedical Engineering.
