Four Women Appointed to Endowed Faculty Positions

Rong Huang has been named the Evanson-McCoy Professor of Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at Purdue University in Indiana. She has been with the university since 2017 as a faculty member in the College of Pharmacy.

Dr. Huang received her bachelor’s degree in pharmacy and her master’s degree in pharmaceutical science from Tongji Medical University in China. She holds a Ph.D. in medicinal chemistry from Purdue University.

Jing Tsu has been appointed the Jonathan D. Spence Professor of Comparative Literature and East Asian Languages and Literatures at Yale University. She has been with Yale University since 2006, and currently holds appointments in the department of comparative literature, the department of East Asian languages and literatures, and the Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs. She is the author of multiple publications including her most recent book Kingdom of Characters: The Language Revolution that Made China Modern (Random House, 2022).

Dr. Tsu is a graduate of the University of California Berkeley where she earned a bachelor’s degree in comparative literature and a master’s degree in rhetoric. She received her Ph.D. in East Asian languages and civilizations from Harvard University.

Leslie Wolf has been named the Ben F. Johnson Jr. Chair in Law at Georgia State University. She has been with the university since 2007, currently serving as a Distinguished University Professor for the College of Law.

Wolf holds a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University in California, a master of public health degree from Johns Hopkins University, and a juris doctorate from Harvard University.

Hae Won Shin has been named the Semmes-Murphy Professor of Excellence and chair of the department of neurology in the College of Medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She most recently served as executive vice chair of the department of neurology, vice chair for clinical affairs, and chief of the epilepsy section in the School of Medicine at the University of New Mexico Health Science Center.

Dr. Shin received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Ewha Woman’s University in Seoul, South Korea, a second bachelor’s degree in pre-medicine from Pennsylvania State University, and an M.D. from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
