Kathleen Ann Long, dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Florida, announced that she will retire at the end of the 2012-13 academic year. She will also step down as associate provost of the university, a post she has held since 2007.
Dr. Long has served as dean of the College of Nursing since 1995. She will be the longest-serving dean in the college’s history. Prior to coming to the University of Florida, she was dean at Montana State University. She has also taught at Johns Hopkins University, the University of Maryland, Husson University in Bangor, Maine, and the Oregon Health and Science University.
Dr. Long is a past president of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. She is a graduate of the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. She holds a master’s degree from Wayne State University in Detroit and a Ph.D. in behavioral sciences from Johns Hopkins University.
