Four Women Honored With Endowed Positions at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma

The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma has appointed four women faculty members to endowed positions to honor their experience and dedication to the university.

Brenda Brown has been named the Jessie Dearing Kinley Endowed Chair in Interdisciplinary Studies. She has been with the university since 1992, currently serving as a professor of English and dean of the School of Interdisciplinary Studies and Humanities.

Dr. Brown graduated from the University of North Texas where she majored in English. She holds a master’s degree in English from the University of Texas Arlington and a Ph.D. in English from Texas Christian University, where she specialized in American literature and rhetoric and composition theory.

J.C. Casey has been named the Dorothy G. Wilcox Endowed Professor in Interdisciplinary Studies. Currently, she serves the university as a professor of communication in the School of Interdisciplinary Studies and Humanities where she has taught since 1992.

Dr. Casey holds a bachelor’s degree in speech from Northeast Louisiana University, a master’s degree in speech from Northwestern State University in Louisiana, and a Ph.D. in public communication from the University of Maryland.

Jacquelyn Knapp has been named the Dorothy Cusick Endowed Professor in Interdisciplinary Studies. She joined the faculty part-time in 1988, and became a full-time member in 1998. She serves as a professor of art and coordinator of the art department in the School of Visual and Performing Arts.

Knapp is an alumna of the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma where she received her bachelor’s degree in sculpture and drawing. She holds a master of fine arts degree in sculpture and drawing from Texas A&M University.

Jeannette Loutsch has been named the Giles Family Endowed Professor in Biology. She is an associate professor of biology in the School of Science and Physical Education, where she has taught since 2007.

Dr. Loutsch graduated from Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa, where she earned dual bachelor’s degrees in biology and chemistry. She holds a Ph.D. in pathology from Saint Louis University in Missouri.
