Meridith Randall Named President of Golden West College in California

After serving in the role on an interim basis since April 2023, Meridith Randall has been named president of Golden West College in Huntington Beach, California. Before taking on her interim presidency, Randall was the vice president of instruction at Golden West College for three years.

Golden West College enrolls roughly 10,000 undergraduate students, 54 percent of whom are women.

Randall came to Golden West College with an extensive career in community college education and administration. She served as chief instruction officer in the California Community College system for 17 years. Her career began as an English instructor for Palau Community College in the Republic of Palau, where she later advanced to dean of academic affairs. She has held appointments at Mendocino College and Shasta College, two community colleges located in California. She also previously served as director of programs and educational effectiveness for the California Virtual Campus, an online resource that connects students with courses from community colleges across the state.

“I am honored by the trust placed in me by the trustees, chancellor, the greater Huntington Beach community, and my Golden West colleagues,” says Randall. “GWC is a special place with enormous potential, and I look forward to working with everyone here to make our dreams for students a reality.”

Randall earned her bachelor’s degree from Amherst College in Massachusetts, a master’s degree from Cornell University in New York, and a juris doctorate from the School of Law at New York University.
