New Academic Positions for Three Women Scholars

Katherine Hartmann has been named director of the University of Kentucky Center for Clinical and Translational Science. She will also serve as associate vice president for research, clinical, and translational science; associate dean of research development and synergy; and professor of obstetrics and gynecology in the College of Medicine. Dr. Hartman comes to the University of Kentucky from Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Tennessee where she was the vice president for research integration, an associate dean, and a member of faculty.

Dr. Hartmann earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in writing, as well as an M.D. from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. She also received a Ph.D. in epidemiology from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.

Alexandra Aylward has joined the faculty at the University of Nevada Reno as an assistant professor of educational leadership in the department of educational studies. Her research focuses on the relationship between context and persistent racial inequities in the United States educational system.

Dr. Aylward received a Ph.D. in the sociology of education from New York University.

Anamika Dubey has been named co-director of the Washington State University and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory Advanced Grid Institute. Dr. Dubey is an associate professor and the Dubey Huie-Rogers Endowed Chair in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science within Washington State University’s Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture. She also serves as a research scientist for the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.

Dr. Dubey holds a bachelor’s degree from the Indian Institute of Techonology in Roorkee, India. She received her master’s degree and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
