Five Women Who Are Taking on New Administrative Duties in Higher Education

Dee Raneri was promoted to executive director of workforce development and community education at the Monroe County Campus of Northampton Community College in Tannersville, Pennsylvania. She was director of community partnerships.

Raneri is a graduate of Syracuse University in New York. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Central Florida.

Shauna Harris was appointed director of the Carolina Women’s Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, effective January 2. She has been serving as assistant dean for student affairs in the School of Education and has worked in higher education and student affairs for more than 15 years. Her scholarship focuses on identity development in biracial women, mid-management supervision, and student engagement on campus.

Dr. Harris earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Clemson University in South Carolina. She holds a master’s degree in higher education and student affairs from the University of South Carolina and a doctorate in counseling and student personnel services from the University of Georgia.

Andrea Anderson was promoted to executive director of sponsored projects for the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects at the University of Michigan. She had been serving as associate director. Before joining the University of Michigan, Anderson was executive director of the University of North Texas Health Science Center’s Office of Sponsored Programs.

Anderson is a graduate of Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan, where she majored in public relations. She earned a juris doctorate at Wayne State University in Detroit.

Fara Warner is the new executive director of the Metcalf Institute at the University of Rhode Island. She will oversee a program that has steadily grown in its mission to engage public audiences in conversations about science and environmental issues. Most recently, Warner has served as the climate director for the Solutions Journalism Network.

Warner holds a master’s degree from the Columbia University School of Journalism.

Brigitte Weinsteiger has been appointed the interim director of the Penn Libraries at the University of Pennsylvania. She will continue to serve as the Penn Libraries Gershwind & Bennett Family Senior Associate Vice Provost for Collections and Scholarly Communications, a role she has held since September 2022.

Weinsteiger holds a master’s degree in liberal arts from the University of Pennsylvania and a master of library and information science degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia.
