Sarah R. Pearson was named vice president for college advancement at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. She has been serving as chief development officer of the Broad Institute of Harvard University and MIT. Previously, she was vice president for alumni relations and development at Northwestern University.
Pearson is a graduate of Bates College and earned a master of fine arts degree at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts.
Jeanette Sims was appointed director of community affairs at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She has been serving as interim director for the North Carolina Governor’s Conference for Women.
Sims is a graduate of Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, where she majored in psychology.
Kiron Skinner, an associate professor of social and decision sciences at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, was given the additional role as adviser on national security policy for the university. Dr. Skinner is also the founding director of the university’s Center for International Relations and Politics.
Dr. Skinner is a graduate of Spelman College. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in political science and international relations from Harvard University.
Anne O’Leary-Kelly was appointed interim associate dean at the Sam W. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas. She is the William R. and Cacilia Howard Professor of Management at the business school.
Professor O’Leary-Kelly is a graduate of the University of Michigan. She holds a Ph.D. in organizational behavior and human resource management from Michigan State University.
Ruby Perry was appointed interim chief of staff for the president of Tuskegee University in Alabama. She is the associate dean for academic affairs for the university’s College of Veterinary Medicine, Nursing, and Allied Health.
Dr. Perry earned her doctorate in veterinary medicine at Tuskegee. She also holds a master’s degree from Michigan State University.
Sharon Marine was appointed vice president for development at the new Cornell/NYC Tech campus. She was associate dean for external relations at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Before coming to Stanford, she was a development officer for the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Her appointment is effective October 1.
Marine is a graduate of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, where she majored in history.
Jane McQueeny is the inaugural director of the Office of Institutional Opportunity and Access at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. She was an attorney for the Office for Civil Rights of the U.S. Department of Education.
McQueeny is a 1984 graduate of the College of Law at Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Cindy Faria is the new associate vice president for human resources at the University of West Florida in Pensacola. Faria joined the staff at the university in 2006 and most recently was associate director of human resources.
Faria is a graduate of the University of West Florida.
Dr. Burris has served as provost of Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina for the past four years. She is slated to become the next president of SUNY's Buffalo State University on July 1.
