Amanda Distel was promoted to vice president and treasurer at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Since 2019, she has been senior associate vice president for finance and treasurer. From 2013 to 2019, Distel was senior director of finance for the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
Distel earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Niamh Minion Larson has been named executive director of Education Abroad and Exchanges at the University of Kentucky. She was serving as acting director. She joined the university’s Education Abroad and Exchanges office in 2015. Earlier, she was a study abroad coordinator and lecturer at the University of Texas at El Paso.
Larson earned a bachelor’s degree in geography from Louisiana State University and a master’s degree in higher education administration from the University of Texas at Austin.
Tiffany Mfume will assume the role of associate vice provost for student success and retention initiatives at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore on July 10. She has been serving as associate vice president for student success and retention at Morgan State University in Baltimore.
Fabianna Borghese is the new director of Popejoy Hall, the performing arts center at the University of New Mexico. She began working with the theater in 2016 and served as associate director of business operations beginning in 2018.
Borghese holds a master’s degree in accounting, an MBA in strategic management and policy in 2019, and a master’s degree in law, all from the University of New Mexico.
Marlene Phillips is the new director of the Center for Women in Politics & Public Policy at the Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership at Texas Woman’s University. She was the director of advising and outreach for the Center for Workplace Learning at Grayson College in Denison, Texas.
Phillips is a graduate of Texas Tech University, where she majored in communications studies. She earned an MBA at Texas Woman’s University.
Hodan Hassan has joined the staff of Morehouse College in Atlanta as the new vice president of the Office of Institutional Advancement and chief advancement officer. She was assistant dean of advancement for the College of Arts and Sciences at Stony Brook University in New York.
Dr. Hassan holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and physics and a master’s degree in math education and applied mathematics from Long Island University in New York. She earned a Ph.D. in technology, policy, and innovation at Stony Brook University.
Tanya Tran was named director of enrollment management at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California. Since March, she has served as director of admissions at the university.
Tran is a graduate of California State University, where she received a bachelor’s degree in mass communications.
Since 2021, Dr. Raver has been serving as provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. She will begin her new duties at the University of Michigan on December 1.
Dr. Rhine comes to her new presidency with nearly four decades of leadership experience in higher education. Most recently, she was president and chief executive officer of Yavapai College in Prescott, Arizona.
On August 10, Dr. Bloebaum became the chief academic officer at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. She had been serving as dean of the College of Aeronautics and Engineering at Kent State University in Ohio for the past eight years.
Dr. Barkley is slated to become the first woman president of Spoon River College on August 31. She comes to her new role from John Wood Community College in Quincy, Illinois, where she serves as vice president of academic and student affairs.
