Four Women Scholars Taking on New Faculty Roles

McLean Fahnestock was appointed chair of the department of art and design at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. She has served as an associate professor of art foundations at the university since 2016.

Professor Fahnestock received a bachelor of fine arts degree from Middle Tennessee State University. She earned a master of fine arts degree from California State University, Long Beach.

Julia Carboni, an associate professor in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University in New York, has been appointed director of the William D. Ruckelshaus Center — a public policy-minded collaboration between Washington State University and the University of Washington.

Dr. Carboni is a graduate of Northern Arizona University, where she majored in social work. She holds a master of public administration degree and a Ph.D. in management from the University of Arizona.

Emily Pritchard was appointed assistant vice president for academic affairs for health innovation and strategic alliances at Florida State University. Dr. Pritchard has faculty affiliations with the College of Medicine and Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship and will continue to serve as director of the Biomedical Entrepreneurship Graduate Certificate Program.

Dr. Pritchard holds a bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from the University of Tennessee.

Shirlkeymu L. Winston, an assistant professor of African American history at Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina, was granted tenure. Earlier, she served as the program developer for the African American Diaspora and African American Studies Program at the university.

Dr. Wilson earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in African history from North Carolina Central University. She holds a Ph.D. in African diaspora studies from Howard University in Washington, D.C.
