Amy Diaz Is the New President of GateWay Community College in Phoenix

Maricopa County Community College District in Arizona has announced that Amy Diaz has been appointed president of GateWay Community College in Phoenix. She has been serving as interim president.

GateWay Community College enrolls nearly 4,700 students, according to the most recent data available from the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 66 percent of the student body.

“GateWay Community College holds a special place in my heart. It is where I serve students, faculty, and staff to ensure we meet our mission of educating the community and changing lives,” said Dr. Diaz. “I am honored to continue in this role permanently and look forward to meeting with a variety of stakeholders to inform our next steps as a transformative college.”

Dr. Diaz came to the college in 2016 as an Instructional dean and vice president of academic affairs. Earlier, she was vice president of student development at Rock Valley College in Illinois.

Dr. Diaz holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary mathematics education from the University of Iowa. She earned a master’s degree in counseling for higher education and a doctorate in educational psychology from Northern Illinois University.
