Anne Y. F. Lin is the new dean of the College of Pharmacy and Health Science
s at St. John University in Queens, New York. Dr. Lin returns to St. John’s after serving for 14 years as dean and professor of pharmacy at Notre Dame of Maryland University in Baltimore. Dr. Lin served on the faculty at St. John’s from 1987 to 1996.
A native of Hong Kong, Dr. Lin immigrated with her family to New York City in 1969 when she was eight years old. She holds a bachelor’s degree and a pharmacy doctorate from St. John’s University.
L. Ebony Boulware was named the next dean of the School of Medicine at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, effective January 1. Dr. Boulware has been serving as the director of the Duke Clinical and Translational Science Institute, in Durham, North Carolina, and as vice dean for translational science and associate vice chancellor for translational research at Duke University. She has served as well as a distinguished professor of medicine and chief of the division of general internal medicine in the department of medicine at the Duke University School of Medicine.
Dr. Boulware received her bachelor’s degree in English from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York, and her medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine. She completed her residency and chief residency at the University of Maryland prior to completing a research fellowship in general internal medicine at Johns Hopkins University, where she earned a master’s degree in public health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
The University of Southern Indiana has named Shelly Blunt interim dean of the Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education, effective January 2. Dr. Blunt has been serving as associate provost for academic affairs and professor of chemistry at the university. Her research is focused on directed metalations in organic syntheses, STEM education, academic advising, and student success and persistence.
Dr. Blunt is a graduate of Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri, where she majored in chemistry. She holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Iowa.
Margaret I. Kanipes was named dean of the new Honors College at North Carolina A&T State University. Professor Kanipese began her career in academia as an assistant biology professor at Fayetteville State University. She joined the faculty at North Carolina A&T State University in 2004 as an associate professor of chemistry. She has served as interim chair of the department of chemistry for four years and as director of the STEM Center of Excellence for Active Learning.
Dr. Kanipes holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from North Carolina A&T State University. She earned a Ph.D. in biological sciences from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and was a Duke University postdoctoral fellow in biochemistry.
