Donna M. Carroll Selected to Lead North Central College in Naperville, Illinois

The board of trustees of North Central College in Naperville, Illinois, announces the appointment of Donna M. Carroll as interim president. The board of trustees expects to appoint a permanent president before the start of the 2023-24 academic year.

Dr. Carroll recently completed a 27-year presidency at Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois. During her tenure there, she substantially grew the university’s enrollment, doubled the number of full-time faculty, created new schools, launched academic programs, modernized the campus, and raised more than $165 million.

“I am delighted to join the North Central College community as interim president,” said Dr. Carroll. “As an admiring colleague for many years, I have witnessed the college’s growth in academic complexity, reputation, and athletic stature and I look forward to working collaboratively with trustees, colleagues, students, and the Naperville community to continue that progress.”

North Central College is a four-year liberal arts institution with undergraduate enrollments of just over 2,400 and about 300 graduate students, according to the most recent data from the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 52 percent of the undergraduate student body.

Before becoming president of Dominican University, Dr. Carroll served as secretary of the university at Fordham University in New York and as vice president and dean of the college and dean of students at Mount Vernon College in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Carroll received her bachelor’s degree in English from Wellesley College in Massachusetts. She earned master’s and doctoral degrees in higher education administration and counseling from the University of Cincinnati.
