Daniela Rus Now Heads the Largest Interdepartmental Laboratory at MIT

Daniela Rus, a professor of electrical engineering and computer science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, was named director of the university’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL). She is the first woman to head the laboratory. The CSAIL is the largest interdepartmental laboratory on the MIT campus.
Dr. Rus has been an associate director of CSAIL and since 2005 was co-director of the laboratory’s Center for Robotics. Before coming to MIT in 2003, Professor Rus was a member of the computer science faculty at Dartmouth College. Professor Rus holds a Ph.D. from Cornell University.
